FAQ Pregnancy

  • Newly pregnant - what do I do now?

Congratulations! Choose who you want to tell. Choose a healthcare professional to support you. Listen to our podcast Public Vs Private. Start taking care of your body; our dietician can prescribe a prenatal supplement and explain what foods you need to avoid. Exercise safely - our physio can prescribe a tailored exercise plan such as clinical Pilates and also get you started with correct pelvic floor exercises.

  • What pregnancy support do you offer?

We are a one-stop-shop for your pregnancy allied health needs and we want to support you the whole way. Everything we offer is proven to support pregnant women; physiotherapy (including pelvic floor physio), clinical Pilates, massage, dietician, midwifery, lactation consultant and psychology. Read about our individual services to see how we can support you in pregnancy, or give us a call.

  • When should I have a pelvic floor exam?

We recommend booking with our pelvic health physiotherapists after your 12-week scan. We will offer an internal pelvic floor assessment, if it is indicated. This is considered the “Gold Standard” of pelvic floor assessment. We teach you optimal technique for pelvic floor muscle training aka Kegels, and closer to birth, teach you perineal massage.

  • Do you attend births?

No. We support mothers and families during pregnancy and postnatal within the Hatched House clinic only. If you are looking for a birth attendant, we recommend the team at MAMA.

  • Do you offer childbirth education?

Yes. At Hatched House we run the Hypnobirthing Australia Positive Birth Program quarterly. We also offer 1:1 childbirth education with our midwives and tailor these sessions to your individual needs.

  • Can I attend your Pilates classes?

Yes. Our classes are physio-led clinical Pilates and we tailor every class to your needs, including ALL stages of pregnancy. You can attend until the day you give birth, then return with a new baby, after your 6 week physio check. An initial appointment is required before attending our Pilates classes.
